My must play games list !!!
Note: They are not in order of favorite or best game.. it is just a list
MUST PLAY GAMES LIST
1) Borderlands
This game is a first person shooter but it has a decent story line and it is TONS of fun - they did everything right with this game and it is a lot of fun to play with friends online for free as well...
2) Mass Effect 2
Holy SHIT this game is FUC*ING awesome... Another shooter game but it doesn't feel like a shooter game its more third person and the story is Ridiculously good in this game; I beat this game in 2 days not because it was easy or short but because I was so in love with it I could not stop playing it until it was DONE...
This game allows you to make choices and choose your destiny like other bioware games - those boys did it again... cant wait for Star wars MMO to come out.
3) Dragon Age Origins
RPG game also with choices how you turn the story - graphics and story are very very good. gameplay is good game is GOOD period...
4) DJ HERO
if you like music (who doesnt) you will like this game, it allows you to have fun, list to music and be creative at the same time - this game is especially fun when friends are over too you have an option of linking up the guitar hero guitar and doing a DUO with friends
5) God of War 3
If you have played any other God of war you know this game is going to be good.. and it is! it lives up to the hype is fun and challenging at the same time keeping you interested and not wanting to give up when faced with actually having to use your brain haha
if you have not played any of these 5 games and you are looking for something to do pick any of them and you will have days of fun or even longer depending how hardcore you are ;)

Star Trek Online Science Escort Guide
Science Escort Guide / Tactical Medical Guide
**TMP** TACTICAL MEDICAL PROJECT **TMP**
By The Donny of LOTUS FLEET
Revision 1 - 01.21.2010
Hello All' As being a Science Captain with Escort ships is the way I decided to go I wanted to write a guide on what I found to work the best and really mesh together...
There are not very many guides out there yet since the game is still in beta and rightfully so it's hard to say what is good and what is not early in the game - who knows there may be nerfs or changes done - With that said I am going to revise this guide as much as possible to always provide the best guide I can for this combo
BEFORE YOU START TIPS:
1) Get the right abilities for your bridge officers!!! You want to go to the Bridge Officer "TRAINER" and get the right abilities before you start putting points into the abilities you don't want - because if you train after the fact it will overwrite your current ability and you lose any points you had put into it...
Ground - This guide uses unique strategy of knock downs, AOE's and Healing life & shields on team mates While optimizing fun for the captain
Space - Let's face it everyone knows the escort's weakness is how much damage it can take, your always going to deal good damage and have the offense due to all the tactical slot's bu what's the point if you get popped in seconds before you can take anyone down? This guide focuses on keeping DPS high and keeping your survivability high as well
So how is all this accomplished you ask??? Let's get started...
Rank: Lieutenant
In your first ship you only have 1 of each console so there's not to much to this part right? Wrong... You want to have the correct skills you plan on using so you can start pumping points into those suckers...
1) Bridge Officers - One Tactical, One Engineer, One Medical and YOU Science Captain.
Tactical Officer (GROUND): Photon Grenade - AOE Damage and knockback!!
Recommend: +9 Point into this ability
Tactical Officer (SPACE): High Yield Torpedo - This speaks for it self save this till enemy shields are down and let it fly for huge damage
Recommend: +9 Points into this ability
Engineer Officer (GROUND): Shield Recharge - This is healing for your shield I can't stress how many times this will save your life and turn the tides in your favor
Recommend: +9 Points into this ability
Engineer Officer (SPACE): Emergency Power to shields - This ability will save your ass as well. short version it saves/replenishes/ repairs shields to your ship
Recommend: +9 Points into this ability
Science Officer (GROUND: Medical Tricorder: This heals the life of the targeted team mate, this is one of the most important ability's on the ground next to shield recharge. Have your bridge officer pick this up because you will be getting other abilities, let him heal while you kill!
Recommend: +9 Points into this ability
Science Officer (SPACE): Science Team: Similar to the engineer shield repair on the ground; this ability will repair you or ally ship shields in space - this is HUGE to have and use as much as possible.
Recommend: +9 Points into ability
2) Ground Weapons
Captain KIT: Researcher - This has an AoE knockback and stasis field to keep an enemy mez'd; Use the AoE Knockback as much as possible
Captain (you): Disrupter Full Auto Assault: This weapon has 2 very good attacks; use the AOE attack as much as possible
TIP: A very important tactic here is to have TWO of these FULL AUTO ASSAULT guns, After you use the big AOE damage shot, Switch to your second gun and use the AOE shot again. This will allow you to get Two huge AoE shots off everyone 10 Seconds :) keep switching back and forward on cool down
Bridge Officers (Away Team): Keep your weapons mixed and matched between your bridge officers. EXAMPLE: have each member hold 1 of the following: "HOLD" weapon, Sniper Weapon, Knockback, Cone AoE
3) Ship Weapons: At this point your weapons are limited due to lack of slots. Not to much to recommend here
Front Weapons
Slot1: Phasers or Cannons - If your already comfortable with maneuvering
Slot2: Photon torpedo
Back:
Slot1: Phasers
LT Strategy Summary: Space
Right now you should be beating people pretty bad by the same fire output as them but being able to heal/repair your shields twice will give you the huge advantage here, out last them till their shields are down then hit the torpedo's for the win.
LT Strategy Summary: Ground
Keep using your Knock Back's and AoE/Cone Attacks as much as possible; this will cause groups of enemies to die fast while their damage output is low due to the constant knockdowns they are getting and if they do manage to attack you got a shield repair and healing going on by your away team :)
TIP: KNOCKBACKS/AOE'S ARE VERY VERY CONE DIRECTED!!! You must have yourself and the enemies positioned directly in front of you or these attacks are hardly effective. The best thing to do is leverage Doorways and small narrow area's / corridors to your advantage to force close combat, that is when your AoE's and Knockbacks are most effective!!!! Switch between your two weapons using your AoE shot's every second they are up - you will get a lot of Agro but your Engineer and Science officers should keep you alive.
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
So your getting your first real Escort ship!!! Just a taste of the potential you are soon to have.
1) Bridge Officers - Two Tactical, One Engineer, One Medical and YOU Science Captain.
TIP: Promote your Tactical Officer to take advantage of being able to use two abilities in space now due to the new ship tactical console slot - Make sure the one you promote is on the correct console.
LT Tactical Officer 1 (GROUND): Photon Grenade - AOE Damage and knockback!!
Recommend: +9 Point into this ability
LT Tactical Officer 1 (SPACE): Target Shield Subsystem - this ability will drain your targets shields very useful for your offensive
Recommend: +3-5 Points into this ability
LT Tactical Officer 1 (SPACE2): High Yield Torpedo - This speaks for it self save this till enemy shields are down and let it fly for huge damage
Recommend: +9 Points into this ability
Tactical Officer 2 (GROUND): Photon Grenade - AOE Damage and knockback!!
Recommend: +9 Point into this ability
Tactical Officer 2 (SPACE): Torpedo Spread - This ability buffs your next torpedo attack
Recommend: +9 Points into this ability
Engineer Officer (GROUND): Same as before no changes made - N/A
Recommend: + Points into this ability
Engineer Officer (SPACE): Same as before no changes made - N/A
Recommend: + Points into this ability
Science Officer (GROUND): Same as before no changes made - N/A
Recommend: + Points into this ability
Science Officer (SPACE): Same as before no changes made - N/A
Recommend: + Points into ability
2) Ground Weapons
Captain KIT: Researcher - This has an AoE knockback and stasis field to keep an enemy mez'd; Use the AoE Knockback as much as possible
Captain (you): Disrupter Full Auto Assault: Same Strategy as above just make sure your using newer weapons with more DPS
Bridge Officers (Away Team): Keep your weapons mixed and matched between your bridge officers. EXAMPLE: have each member hold 1 of the following: "HOLD" weapon, Sniper Weapon, Knockback, Cone AoE
3) Ship Weapons: 3 slot's in front? Now were talking!!!
Front Weapons
Slot1: Phasers
Slot2: Phase CANNON's
Slot3: Photon torpedo
Back:
Slot1: Phasers
LT CMDR Strategy Summary: Space
You have more firepower now so you keep the same strategy as before except now your adding in all the Debuffs from science - Make sure you use your debuffs that you just got always when starting a battle, Also make sure your always behind your enemy as much as possible and they are in your front; I personally keep my torpedo's on Auto Fire and spam Space bar to keep all my phasers/canons going off and your torpedo's will auto fire while spamming spacebar
LT CMDR Strategy Summary: Ground
NOTE: KNOCKBACKS/AOE'S ARE VERY VERY CONE DIRECTED!!! You must have yourself and the enemies positioned directly in front of you or these attacks are hardly effective. The best thing to do is leverage Doorways and small narrow area's / corridors to your advantage to force close combat, that is when your AoE's and Knockbacks are most effective!!!!
Overview: SPACE
This guide is still getting updated but you see the main strategy right? Using Engineer and Science to heal and keep your escort up and using your tactical officers to deal as much damage as possible; I have found this strategy to work the best, before I was going almost all offensive and found out whenever I fought a group of 3 or more ships I would take them out quick yes but due to taking all that fire with no defense I was dying before I could even successfully take them out and the same in PVP - I didn't want to be a glass canon anymore... So I switched to this strategy and now I can dish out major damage still and I have the 2X science and 1X engineer abilities to keep my shields alive and get some good debuffs too also increase effectiveness
Overview: Ground
as you know like 90% of the ground away missions you fight in groups so it seems logical to me to focus on AoE damage... The strat here focuses on AoE Damage by you and your tactical officers while knockbacks, engineer shield regens and your science officers medical tricorder keeps you alive!! You can't lose and you will have fun doing all that damage and watching all the numbers fly across your screen :)

Star Trek ONLINE Review

So today is 1/12/2010 Star Trek online or STO open beta started TODAY!!!
This game is no joke, if I had to explain in short terms I guess it would be close to combining "Star Trek LEGACY" the game and MMO-RPG elements. Here is a brief run down of my experience in the game and what I think about the game but before I start I wanted to point out I have read a lot of other reviews out there and I was getting the impression the game needed a lot of work due to some of the negative reviews I read about small things like the game UI and other non trivial items that make a game fun (TO ME ANYWAY) but after I got my hands on the game myself I was waiting to find these failures, these things that reviews said were annoying, things that I was going to get frustrated with but they never came... they never came....
1) Character's
First things first, you start the game being able to design your own starfleet captain! there are a few races you can choose from or you can even design your own random new alien and add to the species pool!! I will note this if you pick an already created race your customization options only go so far - example if you make a human you cant give him HORNS, why would he have horns hes human...
If you create your own custom race you can do basically whatever the hell you want though - you could probably spend an hour making your character from scratch if you wanted.
Also you get to design your own custom starfleet uniform :) which is pretty neat . some people make themselves look like spiderman which is kinda retarded but hey if they want to look stupid that's their prerogative
Also you get to pick a couple skills like racial abilities inside WoW, Once again if you pick a pre-made race you get designated racial's and a choice of 2 optional.
if you use your own custom alien race you get to pick your own 4 abilities of choice no pre-made forced racial abilities
2) Tutorial
The tutorial in this game is pretty good it does a perfect job of teaching you how to play the game without making you feel your wasting your time inside a tutorial - there are exp gains, unlocks and items you gain - you really can't bypass this tutorial but it's not that painful like some games are... there's actually action right off the bat
3) Pew pew time!!
After your tutorial your left at a MAJOR STARBASE which is just like a major city inside any other MMORPG. There are vendors and even an AUCTION HOUSE.
Here you can customize your ship and recruit new bridge officers and more!! but you don't want to do that because you get some later for free ;) SPOILER!
After shopping and exploring a bit in the city your already tossed your first real missions as a legit starfleet captain (yes an admiral said so)
3) Quests / Missions
What else is an RPG about?? QUESTS!!!
You get a series of quests that are deeply involved inside the story line - not just doing some random quest because some random starfleet guy cant find his napsack anymore. The quests you have are involved in a deep story line just like the star trek shows.
Also they are not just go kill go kill quests. Some are escort, some are defense while others are beaming down to a planet and having negotiations with the locals to provide a solution to their issues but yet all have great rewards :) Don't get me wrong a fair amount of missions are combat related as well - but not to the point to where that's all you spend your time doing... in less your Kligon !! haha

4) Wrap up
Even though the game is in BETA still I will admit the bugs aren't bad. most are minor while some are related purely on stress testing like server full, loading slow, things like that of course are going to pop up in these stages since you have 10000 people hitting the servers hard trying to play haha
I am impressed very much with the game and I think it was worth the wait. I can't wait for the official release to get all that content unlocked and playable I think this game is well worth the price and you will have countless days of fun playing this game even in the beta I can't stop playing.!
p.s. the graphics are great too
My ship the USS ARROGANT
Note: All screenshots were taken from my crappy laptop which still even runs this game good - so the requirements are obviously not too intense I never really got any lag or graphic slow down

Mytough 3G Instant Messenger problems *sigh*
I was very very happy with the phone - besides the fact I am not a touch screen person, I constantly have my hands full and having a phone that is touch screen requires two hands (most of the time) typing with your thumb and 1 hand just sucks..
Overall great phone, great speed but then I hit a problem..........
I started to use AIM, YAHOO, GTALK etc and started noticing I kept getting disconnected from these regardless if I was using 1 or the other or all 3 at once... Like all tech guys I do what we all do when we run into a problem - GOOGLE IT!!!! and found very bad news.. I found out that a lot of other people with 1.6 also have this same exact problem - me being stubborn as I am I decided to call get with T-Mobile support and find a FIX... here is how our text conversation went...
Please wait while we find an agent to assist you...
All agents are currently busy. Please stand by.
An agent will be with you in a moment. Thank you for your patience.
The next available Agent will be with you in a moment.
You have been connected to ^Lamoytha S.
^Lamoytha S: Hi Donald , welcome to T-Mobile live Chat. I’m ^Lamoytha and I will be happy to assist you. Please give me a moment to review your question.
^Lamoytha S: Hi Donald, how are you?
Donald Newton: ok
Donald Newton: frustrated with this phone :P
^Lamoytha S: That's great! I can certainly see how having to sign into your messenger every 5 minutes could be frustrating.
^Lamoytha S: That would drive me crazy.
Donald Newton: yea.. I dont know if this is some type of battery save feature of the phone... but I can not find a way around it.
^Lamoytha S: Okay Donald, I'm sure I can help.
^Lamoytha S: When did you get your Mytouch?
Donald Newton: ok
Donald Newton: about a week ago
^Lamoytha S: Oh okay. Congrats on the new phone! How is it working out for you?
^Lamoytha S: Beside the mesenger problem of course.
Donald Newton: everything else is working great so far, besides this and the fact that the phone wont sync my contacts / calender/ notes like a blackberry ;)
^Lamoytha S: Okay I'm glad you like it. I hear it's a awsome phone.
^Lamoytha S: Do you take it with you everywhere?
Donald Newton: yes
Donald Newton: I have eliminated the possibility of coverage and client software being the issue.. even sitting at work where I get good coverage it still disconnects also - i have tried using more then 1 chat software and it still does the same thing
Donald Newton: I found many many people also have this problem not just me.....
^Lamoytha S: Make sure you check out the myTouch patent leather case. It's really cool. I believe your phone is trying to save battery and memory. How many messengers are you using?
Donald Newton: even using 1 at a time it does it... the one that came with the phone that has the icon labeled "IM"
^Lamoytha S: Does it happen when your in the away status?
Donald Newton: no
Donald Newton: just when I am on Online status
Donald Newton: reguardless of messanger - it happens on Gtalk, Yahoo and AIM
Donald Newton: even if I make sure I have no other Tasks running.... i will be on AIM - i walk away come back 5 minutes later and I got signed off for no damn reason
^Lamoytha S: I'm sure your phone is automatically loggin you out to save memory and battery life. When you leave the messengers on your battery will die faster
Donald Newton: i dont care
Donald Newton: thats what i want to do
Donald Newton: thats like saying... Hey let me turn off my phone until i know someones gonna call then ill turn it on
^Lamoytha S: I understand.
Donald Newton: and there seems to be no way to disable this feature. which makes the phone useless to me
Donald Newton: i purchase the phone for means of communication and if I cannot communicate then all the other bells and whistles are worthless
^Lamoytha S: Do you realize it could cause other problems with your phone if you stay signed into your messengers.
Donald Newton: really because every single other phone on the market can
Donald Newton: blackberrys, sidekicks, windows mobile phones
Donald Newton: this is an android issue.. I am a technician and I need results not excuses
Donald Newton: i want a refund for this phone and credit if its not going to function like it should
^Lamoytha S: You are still in your buyers remorse period so you can return it.
^Lamoytha S: All those device have had issue because of running application.
^Lamoytha S: You have a very advanced phone.
Donald Newton: its so advanced it cannot perform basic features? that makes sense
Donald Newton: my refrigerator at home is advanced but i still can keep my food cold
^Lamoytha S: It makes good sense. Because of the technology the phone must be maintained in the proper way.
Donald Newton: that makes no sense can I please speak to a supervisor... I asked for support to get answers so far your just tell me what I already know - the phone does not WORK
Donald Newton: I don't want excuses on why it is NOT working - I want an answer a SOLUTION.
Donald Newton: android support or something - dont you guys have a special team.
Donald Newton: like the DANGER team for sidekicks
^Lamoytha S: One moment.

^Lamoytha S: Okay.
Donald Newton: sorry I had to draw something while i was waiting forever
^Lamoytha S: You can certainly call in.
^Lamoytha S: Just dial 611 from your handset.
Donald Newton: what is the advantage of calling in?
Donald Newton: why can't i get help here
Donald Newton: are you saying I'm wasting my time?
^Lamoytha S: I'm trying to help.
^Lamoytha S: I already told you why your phone is loggin you out.
Donald Newton: I already know why
Donald Newton: I didn't come here to know why
^Lamoytha S: And I also told you that you can return your phone.
Donald Newton: I came here for a resolution
Donald Newton: ok send me a box with prepaid shipping
Donald Newton: I refuse to believe a 400$ phone cannot do something so simple as messengers
Donald Newton: why don't you guys advertise that?? our phone is so great and advanced but it cannot do basic things like AIM that every other phone can do
^Lamoytha S: Before you purchase a phone you should reseach it on your own. It is your money.
Donald Newton: maybe you should list that on your website
Donald Newton: I did research it on your site and nowhere does it say that
^Lamoytha S: You can also check the forums.
Donald Newton: I think you guys need to check the forums
Donald Newton: so you can have a response to the 140000 people complaining about this phone
^Lamoytha S: If you do not like it return it.
^Lamoytha S: You have 14 days.
^Lamoytha S: After that you are stuck with it.
^Lamoytha S: Is this the only problem you are having?
^Lamoytha S: The phone signs you out to save battery and memory.
Donald Newton: why is there not an option to change this feature
Donald Newton: its my phone correct? why do you decide on what it does
Donald Newton: i pay for it now you
Donald Newton: not**
^Lamoytha S: Does it sign you in automatically?
Donald Newton: no
Donald Newton: it has to be clicked again
^Lamoytha S: Follow these steps. From the Home screen, touch the Applications button.
Touch the IM icon.
Touch AIM or.
Touch the Screen Name field to display the on-screen keyboard.
Enter your screen name.
Touch the Password field.
Enter your password.
If desired, touch Remember my password and Sign me in automatically.
Touch Sign in.
Donald Newton: I don't what is more pathetic - the fact that the phone does this or the fact that you get paid to sit here and BS people like this...
Donald Newton: bye
As you can see I had no luck - so I decide to call and talk to a true android specialist from the Android TMOBILE team... Basically he confirmed the same exact things and expressed his "so called" concern for my issue however - he said indeed the phone has been designed this way in the 1.6 update because users kept complaining about battery life.... HEY GENIUS MR PROGRAM GUYS - how about just adding 1 button like "prevent phone from disconnecting" ..... but that would make sense right?? so lets not do that.. lets just screw over 10000000000's of people who like to stay signed on to AIM, YAHOO and MSN, GOOGLE TALK.....
That's like me turning my phone OFF and only turning it on when I am expecting a call? Yea you can NEVER reach me - BUT HEY I'M GETTING GOOD BATTERY LIFE AM-I-RIGHT?
Seriously get with the fucking program... I am not one to rant and shit but that is pretty ridiculous a state of the art 400$ phone cannot perform something so simple as that...
anyways..
I had to find a solution since they couldn't provide me with one.... the solution - take advantage of my 30 day buyers remorse that lets me trade in my phone no questions asked.. which I did - and purchased a new Motorola CLIQ phone - I won't get the phone till friday but I was told it is running android 1.5 with a custom GUI so I wont face those problems that mytouch had.. Plus I can use a keyboard YAY!
I'll keep you posted but this CLIQ does seem bad ass.. I was told it doesnt come out till November but I'm getting one friday :)
Check out this video for the Cliq

Lost IOS on Cisco switch or router - fix it now!!!
3 Things you will need...
1) Console Cable - Easy enough to get.
2) Hyper terminal - this was a pain in the ass for me to get because I have windows vista... I ended up using my Server which had Server 2003 and still had hyper terminal..
3) Switch/Router Firmware - you can download this from Cisco.com with any Cisco account for free.
How to restore IOS with Xmodem
1) You need to use Hyper Terminal.
So connect a windows XP or Server 2003 console cable to the switch.
2) PREP Work
Download the IOS you need for your switch from Cisco.com
type the following commands
If your switch is screwed up which it most likely is or you wouldnt be needing to Xmodem your IOS over....
You should be seeing the "Switch:" prompt which runs when the hardware can not find an valid image.
Type the following:
switch: flash_init
switch: load_helper
3) Copy the config you downloaded to the switch with Xmodem
Type
switch: copy xmodem: flash:NAMEOFYOURIOSFILE.bin
YOU MUST TYPE THE COMMAND 100% CORRECTLY ABOVE
if you get "Permission denied" or "closed by remote" you typed the command wrong - even having a space in the wrong spot will cause it to fail.
Once you type this command you will see
Begin the Xmodem transfer now
CCC
This is your prompt to use hyper terminal !
CLICK TRANSFER from the menu uptop in hyper terminal
CLICK SEND FILE
Browser to your IOS image - MAKE SURE Protocol is set to XMODEM
If you followed the directions correctly the file will start transfering now !!!
Sit back and wait 30Minutes to 2HOURS depending on the IOS size.
Good times... Good times... ;) haha

Dead weight...
I feel good.. i feel DAMN good... But there's a problem... A problem I can’t ignore... I always told myself I wouldn't do what my dad did to
me when I was growing up, I promised if I had a kid - a son - I would be there for him while he grew up no matter what the cost... and I
have tried I have tried my damn best but where do I draw the line, when is enough enough... I'm tired of the fighting... I'm tired of the
Immaturity level she has - so damn tired... I work too damn hard every day not to be happy, I think I deserve to be happy.. People look at
me sometimes and think I have everything.. my friend told me he wishes he had things like me but what is all of my material bullshit
worth if there’s no love in my life... I honestly can’t even remember what it's like to be -in-love- it's been many many years since I felt that
and I forgot what it’s like... I want to be in love again, none of this matters when I'm not even happy...
Am I making excuses?? Am I trying to make shit up so I won’t feel guilty for giving up on my son?? I’m not giving up on my son… I gave
up on his mother- she’s never going to change, I hoped maybe because she was young she would grow out of it and become more
Responsible and be an adult - i was wrong.... so damn wrong...
I love my son – every time i look at him he brings a smile to my face hes gorgeous and I know shes going to keep him from me... but I
can’t keep living like this... something’s got to change I can’t stay with this chick she’s driving me fucking nuts and I just want to be
Happy..
I'm sorry son - hopefully when your older you will understand... but I can’t stay with this girl anymore - it’s time for me to move on... I'm
Moving on... fuck that!

Cisco Catalyst Switch Password Recovery
Anyways..... There is two ways to do this... 1 just flash/destroy the config and spend HOURS reconfiguring the switch.... or there is the Correct way... Backup the config - Wipe it, Reload it and setup a new password (correctly this time). I say we go with option number 2? I thought you would agree!! Here's how its done...
*NOTE: This is slightly different depending on the model of the switch - for this demo we are using a Cisco 3560"
1) Getting back inside the switch......
First thing is first, We need to get back inside the switch do be able to do SOMETHING at all.
a) Pull the power Cable out of the switch so it is turned OFF..... Attach a console cable to the switch and open your terminal software like Hyperterminal or PuTTY, Use the following settings to connect to the switch;
-
Bits per second (baud): 9600
-
Data bits: 8
-
Parity: None
-
Stop bits: 1
-
Flow Control: Xon/Xoff
b) Hold the button on the front of switch, This part is easy to do since most cisco switches have only 1 button in the front anyways there should be no confusion... While holding the button plug the power cable back in which will turn the switch on...
c) Release the button after approximately 15 seconds when the SYST LED turns solid green located on the front of the switch. When you release the Mode button, the SYST LED should blink green... You will know if it worked or not because you will get a Switch: Prompt on your Telnet/PuTTY/Hyperterm Window
2) Backing up the Configuration of the Switch
OK, so now we are back inside the switch but we are in a very very basic mode...We will need to load a couple of things inside the switch then we can backup our configuration...
a) Enter the Command below as shown; This will initialize some basic features
switch: flash_init
b) Enter the next command shown below; This will load another key feature.switch: load_helper
c) Enter yet another command; This will show you the files saved on your switch - we are looking at the files so we can find your config file and rename it.
(ENTER EXACTLY AS SHOWN w/ the COLEN)
switch: dir flash:
d) Now you should see a file most likely called config.text we need to rename this file so it will be safe and we can write a new blank config without losing our current configuration
(TYPE EXACTLY AS SHOWN; IF THIS DOES NOT WORK TRY AGAIN YOU PROBABLY TYPED IT WRONG)
Type switch: rename flash:config.text flash:config.old
e) Now BOOT up the switch in normal mode by typing:
switch: boot
3) Restoring the configuration and setting up a password (ALMOST DONE!)
Now you will see a few prompts offering to do a setup wizard for your brand new switch - this is normal since we renamed the configuration file the switcth created a blank clean new configuration.. Deny the wizards and prompts and get yourself back to the good'ol SWITCH: prompt.
a) Get back into "Enable Mode"
Type switch: enable
now your prompt should like like switch# instead of switch:
b) Time to restore the configuration we backed up;
Type Switch# rename flash:config.old flash:config.text
PRESS ENTER if you are prompted with "Destination filename [config.text]"
c) Great lets save it!
Type Switch# wr
"WR" will write the configuration and save what you just did...
d) OK after all that hard work we finally are back inside our switch and the configuration is restored..... Now you need to setup a user name and password... Go ahead and do this... if your not sure how to do this;
Type Switch# conf t
Type Switch(config)# username admin privilege 15 secret 5 yournewpassword
Explained: username Your User name follows
Privilege you want this to be 15 so you have FULL admin rights.
secret 5 yournewpassword - this will ensure your password is Encrypted.
e) Now reboot and your done!
Type Switch(config#) end
Type Switch# reload
Type ENTER TO CONFIRM
BOOOOOYA!!!!
Hope this helps.... You can now login to the switch with your username and password you put in!
Enjoy.

Cisco DHCP Relay "IP Helper Address"
We double checked our DHCP scope, server and subnet. Everything was setup properly.. We already have other servers on this VLAN without any problems and other ports on this same switch using different VLANS are getting DHCP without any problems...
So it came to my attention the DHCP was not "RELAYING"
To do this you have to setup an ip-helper address like this:
1) log into switch via telnet
2) enable to get privliges
3) switch# conf t
4) switch(conf)# interface vlan 123
5) switch(if-conf)# ip helper-address 192.168.1.2
Here is the break down on what we just did..
1) Get on to your switch by telneting into it via IP address
2) You need to gain privleged acccess to get to configure the terminal
3) this command will get you in to the configuration mode
4) this will get you into the configuration of the VLAN - the default vlan is 1 normally
5) this command "ip helper-address" tells your switch where to find the DHCP server...
Hope this helps :)
Enjoy

Outlook 2007 running slow
If you have any of these symptoms you should try this for yourself.
Outlook starting up slow
Outlook starts "Not Responding"
You get pauses when going from email to email
Over all functions of OUTLOOK perform slow
1) open outlook
2) go to tools > trust center
3) go to Add-ins
4) on COM Add-ins > Click GO - When the new window appears Un-Check the Add-ins
5) on Exchange Client > Click GO - When the new window appears Un-Check the Add-ins
6) You can remove 1 add-in at a time and check if the performance improves. That way you can figure out exactly which add-in it is that is slowing down OUTLOOK... OR You can just Disable them ALL first, then just enable the ones you know and need...
I un-checked all the add-ins and my OUTLOOK Flys now with no slow down or no pauses at all what so EVER...
For me there was an old Virus Scanner I removed a long time ago, However... It kept an Add-in installed inside outlook even after I un-installed that software a long time ago...
Hope this helps people and hope they read this first because when I tried to Google this problem originally I found tons of posts about editing the registry, Hot fixes from microsoft, updates and patches, uninstalling and reinstalling outlook, running the repair, You get the point... And it turned out to be a simple 1minute fix of removing the add-ins...
Enjoy

Radianta solutions for CUAE
We had a small demo on the suite containing all these core features, it is called "Beacon Office". Now that Radianta are CISCO partners Cisco will be selling this product now directly and tossing a cut to Radianta for development.
Another great thing about this is since they have a true partnership Cisco TAC will actually support this CUAE as if it was their own.
People were waiting for a long time for CISCO to make use of it's Cisco Unified Application Environment but the wait was just too long and Radianta stepped up to supply this solution that worked so great CISCO thought why invent the wheel when these guys are already rolling?!
Since we already have and use Call Manager this software will work and intergrate with everything we have currently without the purchase of anything additional since we already have the setup.
We are going to implement and install this at our hospital very soon I can't wait to get started and I will keep you posted on all the details !!!

How To Setup a Cisco Switch from SCRATCH, Chapter 3:
Express Setup
First time users will find this useful to get up and running quickly and hassle free.
The setup will probably look like the picture below:
Once you click the image you can see that I went ahead and filled out most the settings as they should be. Let me cover the setup and answers in depth.
0) If you are NOT prompted with this express setup and want to try loading it here is how..
Type
Switch> enable
Then type
Switch#> setup
Simple eh?? :)
1) Would you like to continue with the setup dialog? yes
This is obviously telling the switch you want to use the express setup wizard to continue.
For advance users you can click "NO" if you prefer to everything manual and by hand, though I do not recommend that if you are reading this :P
2) Enter IP Address: 192.168.X.X
This is the IP you want to assign your switch, this is extremely helpful so in the future you can access the switch without having to use the serial cable. You can simple use Telnet or PuTTY. Since this is a switch and not a router the IP address is not too important of what you choose. If your not sure of your IP range just do an IPconfig.
3) Enter IP NETMASK: 255.255.255.0
This is the Subnet mask of your network... for most home or small networks you will use 255.255.255.0... if your not sure of your subnet just do an IPconfig.
4) Would you like to enter a Default Gateway Address: YES
Yes this is the IP of your router AKA gateway... This is how your switch will route traffic.. Meaning.. If you are plugged into your switch and your computer sends a request to go out on the Internet the switch will attempt to send that request to the Gateway (router), Therefore if the switch does not know where your router (gateway) is you won't be getting out anytime soon ;)~~~
Most gateways are .1 or sometimes .254
Your gateway if "Linksys" Router: 192.168.1.1
Your gateway if "Dlink" Router: 192.168.0.1
Your gateway if "Netgear" Router: 192.168.0.1
5) Enter Host name: Home-SW-1
This is the name you want to give your router, this is not too important in less you are on a bigger network and have a proper naming scheme to track your equipment. Feel free to put whatever you want... Call it Douche bag, Your going to access your switch via IP anyhow.
6) Enter Enable secret: *********
This is your password to access configuration items inside your switch.. Make this password something you will not forget. it can be whatever you want...
DO NOT MAKE THIS PASSWORD "cisco"
"cisco" is the default password for most the cisco's equipment making it this would be a stupid idea :P~
7) Would you like to configure a telnet password: YES
Telnet is how you will access your switch in the future also other people could access your switch threw telnet so you better put a password.
8) Enter your telnet password: ********
Some people will tell you not to make it the same password as your enable password but I keep my enable and telnet password the same to make life easier.
If you get prompted that you can not use the same password twice just retype your same password again (yes a second time even though it said NO), it will go threw this time and allow you to use the same password!! Vola !! stupid software is not going to tell us what to do!!!
9) Would you like to enable as a cluster command switch: NO
Switches in cluster use the switch clustering so that you can configure and troubleshoot a group of different cisco switch's through a single IP address. This could be helpful but not in our situation.
10) Use this Configuration?: YES
This will give you a brief overview of the setup and settings we picked. Cisco understands you are not like them - meaning you are not perfect, so they allow you a chance to go back and make some changes. Confirm everything is OK then click YES!!!! If not click NO and redo the setup, LOSER!!! ;)
DONE!! - You should now be able to access your switch via TELNET and IP address. You should also be able to access your network and internet now by being plugged in to your switch.
Next chapter we go more in depth setup, configuration and IOS commands.
Coming soon Chapter 4

How To Setup a Cisco Switch from SCRATCH, Chapter 2:
Connecting to your Switch
1) Serial Cable to AUX Port: "Console Cable" (RECOMMENDED)

This is the most "secure" connection you can have to your switch just for the pure fact that someone has to Physically be in front of the switch with a notebook or PC to connect in this fashion, Thus it is the most secure because nobody would be able to access your switch from outside using this method.
Your Cisco switch should come with a light BLUE Serial to CAT5 cable. You take the 9PIN side of this connection and plug it in to your notebook on your COM port, The other side will go in the SWITCH there should be a RJ45 port on the switch that is labled "CONSOLE" this is most likely located on the BACKSIDE of the switch as shown below and the port might even be colored the same as the cable.

Talk about idiot proof!!
Once you have connected to the switch with the cable, you need to create a COM session. There is a couple programs to do this, I myself use "PuTTY" a small and free program that is great, download it by clicking the link. Another popular way for windows users (not vista) is to use "Hyper Terminal". In either of these progams the settings are simple and as follows.
Port: COM1 (depending on your hardware, could be COM2 or COM3)
Speed (Baud): 9600
After you enter the correct settings you should be prompted for a USER name and Password.
2) IP Address (TELNET or SSH): (RECOMMENED AFTER SETUP WITH IP)
Another common way is to connect to the switch VIA IP Address, if the switch is brand new it then it will NOT have an IP Address for you to connect to. This is mainly for switches that have already been configured in the past and was assigned an IP. Once your switch is setup this becomes the more COMMON way to access a switch. This way lets you connect to your switch from anywhere inside your network.
Telnet: Telnet is one way to connect to the switch. The settings you need are:
IP ADDRESS: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX The IP Management IP for your switch
Port: 23 (Default TELNET port is 23) After you enter the correct settings you should be prompted for a USER name and Password.
SSH: SECURE Shell. How is this secure?? We'll it works very very simular to telnet with but this encrypts your password when entered, that way there is no risk of someone logging or sniffing out your password over the network. SSH will secure the connection to your switch by encrypting it. The settings you need are:
IP ADDRESS: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX The IP Management IP for your switch
Port: 22 (Default SSH port is 22)
After you enter the correct settings you should be prompted for a USER name and Password.
HTTPs: Web Interface. (NOT Recommended in less manditory)
A couple cisco switch models can be managed via HTTP. This is a little more easy on the eyes because it comes with a more user friendly GUI for you to play with and change settings, the two major issues with this is it is Not a very secure method to connect to your switch, Also the more advance and comforable you get with the Cisco IOS you will find the web interface to be a pain in the ass to be honest. Also you loose some functionallity when using the GUI because only the options presented are the options you can configure, Unlike the Cisco IOS where you have a more vast range of options. The settings you need are:
Go to: Https://your.ip.of.switch (example https://192.168.1.2)
After you enter the correct settings you should be prompted for a USER name and Password.
Congrats you have sucessfully connected to your Cisco switch and you are ready to start setting it up!!!
Coming Soon Chapter 3!

How To Setup a Cisco Switch from SCRATCH !!!
Chapter 1: The Differences
There are a few different types of switches. Here are the most common and important things to look for.
a) PoE - "Power Over Ethernet" - PoE can be used with various devices that can be powered over Ethernet. For example a lot of VoIP phones can be powered over Ethernet, What does this mean? This means if you plug your device into the switch with an Ethernet cable such as cat5e cable the device will get power. So if you had a Cisco VoIP phone you would notice there are a couple ports on the back - one if for an AC adapter to give the phone power - that's normally what you see on EVERYTHING electronic is a good old POWER cable and AC power brick.. Well NO MORE!! No need for those power bricks anymore - if you had a PoE switch and you plugged in the phone it would start up and get power over the Ethernet without plugging the phone into the power outlet or supplying any other power source you would normally have to use...
b) G - Gigabit Ethernet - Cisco switches will have a model like, 3560PoE, 2960 and 2960G. The "G" in the model name means the switch is FULL Gigabit, Now does that mean if it has no "G" that the switch is NOT Gigabit, Well that's not always true either because some 10/100 switches still have 2 or 4 ports that are Gigabit. Normally it is used to be an Uplink to another switch to provide faster connection between the two or sometimes the switches will even have fiber connections as well while the other 10/100 ports are for End Users. Some switches have slots where you can pop in cards to fit your needs or as your company grows.
c) IOS - Internetwork Operating System - IOS is a command based interface made by Cisco, This is your bread and butter with almost ALL cisco switches. There different versions of Cisco IOS but for the most part they are still very similar so don't be afraid because most the stuff is the same. Some Cisco siwtches also have an HTTP interface where you can setup and control the switch using a website GUI, For beginners this may feel a lot more comfortable but there is some lack of features and full control that you would have if you were using Cisco IOS, The Cisco Catalyst 500 Express PoE switch is a good example of using HTTP to setup the switch. There tons of commands to remember inside the IOS and it might seem overwhelming at first but once you get comfortable and more familiar with all the commands it really really becomes easy and makes setting up a switch quick and easy once your an expert with IOS.
